We discover together,

we build together,

we make choices together,

we fall together,

we rise together,

we learn how to be together,

for this moment in dance,

for a lifetime in life.

Izfen ma’ ZfinMalta

Izfen ma’ ZfinMalta offers a space for adults to learn ballet and contemporary approaches to movement through community classes open to all. The contemporary classes are led on Tuesday at 7 PM and offer different contemporary approaches offered by practitioners Zoe Camilleri, Florinda Camilleri, Julienne Schembri and myself. Through this platform I am sharing my mindful movement practice. Check out the booking page to learn more.

Dance Education Pack

This dance education pack offers creative tasks to explore the sustainable development goals of gender equality and quality in education. It focuses on nourishing the qualities that allow for diversity and authenticity to be expressed and supported within communities of children. It can be used by anyone and adapted to different age groups.

This dance education pack is founded on research as well as the practices of dance practitioner Tamara Zsófia Vadas, theatre pedagogue and practitioner Luca Borsos and creative therapist and dance practitioner Rachel Calleja. It was commissioned by Spazju Kreattiv (MT) in collaboration with Hodworks (HU) as part of a larger EU project between 2019 and 2021.

This project included the delivery of

  • pilot workshops with children and adolescents.

  • Train the Trainer workshops.

Inclusive Dance

When I worked at Inspire with adults with intellectual disabilities, I experienced first hand the power of dance to empower people and express the human spirit. This sent me head first into a quest to make dance more accessible to whomever it calls. I went off to Vienna to study DanceAbility at Impulstanz Dance Festival. Shortly after, I found out that Opening Doors Malta was starting a dance group. I started as a volunteer when it started in 2014, moved on to assistant and then became Dance leader for the two dance groups between 2016-2019. I can not commend the work of Opening Doors enough, check them out here: https://openingdoors.org.mt/

Below is a short clip of a workshop I facilitated whilst with Opening Doors when we had the opportunity to host Opening Doors Belgium in Malta. Video by Karl Andrew Micallef.

In addition to Opening Doors, my teaching experiences include

  • Teaching Drama at Helen O’Grady using theatre as a way of relating, creating safety and a sense of belonging in children newly arriving in Malta. 2018-19.

  • Teaching ballet and musical theatre dance to children attending School of Performing Arts (SOPA), 2018-19.

  • Working at Inspire in both full time and part-time capacities between 2010 - 2015 within

    • Adult Programme: supporting adults with disabilities to prepare, apply, find and maintain employment.

    • STEP: early intervention programme for children on the autism spectrum.

    • STYLE: a programme encouraging socialisation and independence in adolescents.
