This is a picture of a morning dance my Kindergarten buddies had to experience on some mornings.

Hi, my name is Rachel and I am passionate about creativity and its potential for wellbeing and building community.

I was called to this since I was very young, but never knew what it was, or what to call it because it was far less common then and its still pretty uncommon now. I followed dance like a thread and in some sort of synchronicity dance and community kept weaving into the life I now lead. Along this journey I have studied for a Bachelors in Psychology (2009) and B.A. in Dance Studies (2015) at the University of Malta. In between these studies I attended the Teacher Certification for DanceAbility in Impulstanz, Vienna (2012) which is a dance improvisation method that is inclusive to people of all abilities.

Through the different dance roles that I was experiencing I learned something important about myself. I realised that it wasn’t just about dance - I realised that unless the work was socially engaged and contributing to the growth, well-being and joy of my community, then something felt missing. I started to levitate always closer to dance and wellbeing and even experienced the beauty and power of creative therapy while assisting in sessions. I fell in love with the work and so I packed my bags and went to study for an MSc in Psychotherapy and Counselling: Contemporary Creative Approaches at Edge Hill University (UK). I am now blessed to be working all along this field, choreographing dances, teaching mindful movement, supporting and creating community arts and offering therapy.

I believe that all people should have access to art and experience the joy of creating, not necessarily for the outcome but for the beautiful and messy process that mimics life. It is my mission to continue to expand these possibilities for my community and help to facilitate a connection to that magnificent intangible that can be accessed through the arts.
